Schools Almost Over!

This has been a very trying semester. It was one of my hardest ones so far. It wasn't so much hard as it was time consuming. We had a lot of work that took hours to do! I can actually say I got my monies worth! LOL Anyhow, nearing the end I can predict my final grades... All A's!! *Hopefully* I am looking forward to next semester because that makes me one semester closer to graduating!! I am not looking forward to the bulk of work though. Hopefully I do as well next semester as I have this semester... We will see.

Hurricane/ TS Ida

I cannot believe that we actually have a storm of ANY kind (Hurricane, tropical storm/depression) in November?! It's just crazy! I know hurricane season lasts through November 30 but that doesn't mean we actually have them LOL I don't think it is going to be anything serious but we still have to take precautions... Schools are letting out early, that is a positive :) UNLESS... we have to make up the classes :( I definitely don't want to go to class more. I guess I'm getting ready to shut this computer down and enjoy the weather... Me and my little girl will be playing LOTS of games :)

Upcoming Weekend

I have so much to do, from school work to extracurricular activities with my daughter, I am bogged down! Hopefully I'll get a lot of work done this weekend. I have to study for a midterm, finish a lesson plan, coach a ballgame, and shop for Halloween outfits! I am looking forward to the shopping. :) It clears my mind at times. My little girl wants to be a pirate... again! I'm trying to change her mind due to the fact that she's been a pirate twice already and she is only 4. Who knows, maybe when we go shopping she will pick a ladybug or something cute. On the other hand, I have no clue what I want to be. I have some Halloween parties to go to, festivals with Zoey, and of course trick or treating! I look forward to the upcoming holiday and finishing with some of this school work.

Michaelmas Day Activity

Michaelmas Day

History:
Michaelmas Day is a day that marks the beginning of fall and harvest season. This is because it falls near the equinox, and it is associated in the northern hemisphere. During the Middle Ages Michaelmas Day was celebrated as a Holy Day of Obligation but this tradition was abolished in the 18th century. It falls on Sept. 29 but in the states it falls on Oct. 11.

Meal:
Traditional meal for the day includes goose, blackberries, and a special cake called a St Michael's bannock. ... It is baked by the eldest daughter in the family, guided by her mother, and assisted by her eager sisters. As she moistens the meal with the milk the girl softly says:
Progeny and prosperity of family,
Mystery of Michael,
Protection of the Trinity

A small chant:
Here to thee wolf, spare my sheep;
Here to thee fox, spare my lambs;
Here to thee eagle, spare my goats;
Here to thee raven, spare my kids;
Here to thee marten, spare my fowls;
Here to thee harrier, spare my chickens.

Flower:
Asters, or Michaelmas daisies, are perennial flowers. Flowers usually bloom in late summer or fall in clusters, with each blossom from half an inch to several inches wide, on stems six inches to several feet tall. Ray petals are white, blue, deep purple, or pink and central disks are golden.

Lesson Ideas:
A healthy heart is a healthy you! We are going to eat blackberries and oats. I will explain the good of eating these foods and how they are associated to the heart. Once finished the children will do color sheets and we will have an informal discussion on why the foods are good for the heart.

My First IT 365 Blog

I have blogged some in the past but never stuck to it. I will however have to keep up with this blog so... I'll be here faithfully! I do look forward to this class and all it has to offer. I enjoy writing so this shouldn't be too hard of a task. :)
